Overview of role

Location: Maidenhead

We have a great opportunity for a developing Technical professional to join our team as the Specifications Technologist at Maidenhead (Hybrid).

Key Accountabilities


The Role:

Using our recipe management system you will liaise closely with the NPD team to advise on recipes to achieve the composition and nutrition requirements in their brief.
For products that progress beyond the development stage, you will write and publish finished product specifications.
You will maintain the availability of the full range of quality assessment resources for all bakery products made by Allied Bakeries.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to recruit a diligent and enthusiastic team member to join our Technical Assurance function.

  • You will be responsible for writing, processing and approving finished product specifications, including those specifications submitted on retailer web-based systems such as JS Evolve, Asda Hive and Tesco TQC.
  • You will be keen to learn and participate in all aspects of food composition, testing and environmental/sustainability data gathering.
  • Timely completion and approval of final product specifications to satisfy customer requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of the customer requirements and individual retailer web-based specification systems.
  • Conducting checks of new packaging to ensure accuracy and compliance against Pack Copy and Codes of Practice and Labelling Legislation.
  • Curious about topical environmental topics.
  • Ad hoc duties to support the Food Safety team.

This is a hybrid role with a combination of working in Maidenhead and from home.

The Right Person


Skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Degree / equivalent in Food Science or related discipline.
  • Previous experience in completing major retailer specifications.
  • Knowledge of Hamilton Grant or other recipe/specification management systems is desirable.
  • Good numeracy skills and effective in the manipulation of technical data.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines without compromising accuracy and attention to detail is crucial.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
