Production Planner

Salary – £28,000 to £35,000 depending on experience & bonus scheme.

AW Baxter Ltd offer UK Haulage, global freight forwarding, storage and export packing. AW Baxters Export Packing Department offer a bespoke transit packing service and operate as an extension to our client’s manufacturing operation providing a comprehensive contract and export packing service.
As part of our Growth Plan, we are seeking to broaden our team expertise through the appointment of a Production Planner. With huge growth potential, this will be an excellent opportunity for the right person to truly make their mark. This role will suit someone who is willing to challenge established practices and support continuous improvement. The role is ideal for someone who is already in a similar Production role who is looking for a clear progression path and opportunity to develop, streamline and grow the packing operation.
We are looking for this role to bring a truly fresh approach.
Summary: Reporting to Directors, the role of Production Planner is to work towards achieving Manufacturing Excellence through the people and processes, applying Continuous Improvement in all we do and instilling this in all Production personnel. This will help us to always deliver quality products that meet our customer's expectations on time in full.
Responsible for: All Production personnel, Sawyers, Case Makers, Packing onsite & offsite including equipment and facilities.
Progression: There is clear progression for this role as one of the key objectives is to nurture and develop the right candidate, allowing the job-holder to move into more Senior / Strategic areas in line with business succession planning.
The day to day duties will include-
- Effective and timely liaison with customers, suppliers, management and production personnel.
- Handling orders by phone & email. Checking orders have correct pricing & inputting orders into our in house system.
- Liaising with transport team for delivery.
- Effective process/production planning.
- Determining and managing production flow and schedules.
- Actioning Packing Requirements from Sales Account Managers.
- Creating – Job Instruction Sheets, Case Making Cutting Lists, Fabrication Cutting Lists
- Planning Case Making and Packing methods.
- Determining personnel for working on and off site.
- Meeting Customers & Clients onsite to discuss packing requirements.
Person Specification:
Our ideal candidate for the role will have experience and understanding of factory production ideally in the timber industry. Be an effective communicator and resolver of problems, having acute attention to procedures and policy, coupled with the ability to set, monitor and manage goals and targets from a strategic and commercial viewpoint.
Holding a Full UK Driving Licence.
