Salary: £10.42 per hour (rising to £11.12 per hour after a successful completion of your probationary period and pay review pending)
A minimum of 20 hours per week Monday to Sunday available or weekends only/school holidays only
We are looking to build our Science Explainer team and are looking for people who are as passionate as we are about engaging people with science.
As someone who is customer focused, your role as a Science Explainer will be to make a visit to Life exciting, entertaining, informative and fun and to enhance the experience of all visitors. You will be interacting with a wide range of audiences, but primarily families and schoolchildren and occasionally on outreach in schools and community settings. You will deliver hands-on science activities including live shows and will enhance the experience of visitors around the science centre - covering all exhibitions, activities, and different workshops. In addition, there will be opportunities to contribute to other elements of a changing exhibitions and events programme.
The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of STEM and will be curious, enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills, enjoy presenting to audiences and share our desire to help everyone understand better the relevance of science to their lives. Comprehensive training will be provided.
The science centre is a seven day a week business and very popular on weekends and school holidays. Shifts and hours will vary to meet the needs of the business, therefore, a flexible approach will be required.
