This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career in the General Radiography Department at the Norfolk & Norwich University NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH). The Radiology Department is accredited by QSI (Quality Standards in Imaging).

Applicants will contribute and work within the team to deliver high quality imaging to all service users, ensuring clinical safety and facilitating a high standard of patient care. The post requires a flexible and enthusiastic Radiographer prepared to be part of a team providing 24/7 care to patients, coordinating workflow, staff and patients each day.
The Radiology Department has 11 general rooms with 3 in a busy and exciting ED unit; many of our rooms are DR and have recently had 2 new DR rooms installed in ED. We also support a varied and busy theatre program (27 theatres), screening for urology, general, orthopaedic, spinal, pain and paediatric lists. We also undertake dental imaging, support the Fluoroscopy Department and have a team of Reporting Radiographers (musculoskeletal, chest and abdomen).
Cromer Hospital also forms part of the Trust and is situated on the beautiful North Norfolk coast. The Cromer Radiology department has 2 general rooms supporting a busy MIU, GP’s and clinics together with a procedure room with its own image intensifier.
As post holder you will provide a professional, high quality and responsive departmental service, to patients, in a safe clinical environment. You will practice without the direct supervision of a clinician.
You will participate in training and supervising of imaging staff, students, assistants and medical staff.
In addition, you will be required to take on additional responsibilities which include undertaking appraisals, incident investigation, audits, health and safety duties, mentoring new staff and students, governance responsibilities.

Hours of work: Full Time and part time hours are available. Shifts are a mixture of long and short days. You will be required to work flexibly - weekday / weekend and out of hour’s duties within the NNUH Trust including Cromer District Hospital. We operate a 7 day working week which includes rostering at nights, weekends and Bank Holidays. We offer flexible working opportunities as well.

- Take part in the training of undergraduates, postgraduates, including medical staff, medical students and radiographic assistants in the modality applicable to their needs on a daily basis. Where necessary organising their training sessions, induction and providing tutorials. Act as a clinical supervisor and/or assessor when appointed to this role.
- Ensure a high standard of professionalism and patient care within their work area. This includes appropriate communication with patients providing reassurance and obtaining the patients confidence and co-operation to obtain the required diagnostic images.
- Partake in the appraisal scheme both as appraiser and appraisee, supporting staff in achievement of objectives.
- Participate in the departmental 1:1 process reviewing and updating staff progress on a monthly basis to include status and progress of appraisal objectives and allocated clinical/managerial responsibilities
- Participate in the recruitment of staff as required.
- Liaise with engineers regarding equipment maintenance and faults, ensuring that the correct documentation is populated and the process is completed according to the protocol in the modality. i.e. entering information on the eQuip database.
- Take an active role in the development and service improvement of the modality by reviewing current customs and practices within the team and modality taking part in innovative and constructive problem solving.
- Management of the day to day working of the department as the named coordinator or supporting the coordinator; prioritising workload, including incorporating the training needs of other staff. This will include rearranging resources at short notice when necessary.
- As coordinator or support, be responsible for arranging the workload of the modality, including prioritising the inpatient and ED workload based on clinical priority and patient flow requirements of the Trust. Work with the Modality Lead and Operational Management team to prioritise patient flow in relation to escalation status of the Trust.
- Communicate effectively with the Modality Lead and Clinical Lead Radiographers, Consultant Radiologists, area coordinator, clinical staff and radiology assistant staff, regarding operational and clinical issues.
- Communicate effectively with clinical, medical and non-clinical staff outside of the Department, to ensure smooth running of patient lists and ensure patients flow, taking into account individual patient needs.
- Perform examinations either in person or as part of the modality team, maintaining high professional standards, supporting and monitoring the quality standards of the directorate, whilst minimising patient exposure to radiation and radio frequency.
