We have vacancies for full-time / part time/ flexible working nurses to cover a variety of specialities across our outstanding trust.
You will be given a local ward induction, a trust induction and access to a robust preceptorship programme aimed at supporting you to develop within your first year. Continuing education and professional development are strongly encouraged and opportunities will be made available for the successful applicant as we work closely with our Higher Education partners at Universities in Brighton (Brighton University) and Guildford (University of Surrey).
Specialist Division
The Specialist Division is made up of 3 directorates; these include Neurosciences, Cardiac, Vascular, Renal, as well as Major Trauma Centre, Critical Care and Sussex rehabilitation centres. These areas offer patients more specialised care and are the regional and tertiary centres for the South East of England. We are looking for driven, ambitious and autonomous Band 5 Nurses who are committed to delivering exceptional care for a diverse range of clients. We accept and fully support newly qualified nurses and those looking for a change or challenge. In return, we can offer full orientation, training and preceptorship. Development and education are provided through in-house training, with the opportunity to undertake relevant clinical/university courses organised by ward clinical/Practice Educators.
Currently the Specialist Division has vacancies at RSCH (Brighton) and PRH (Haywards Heath). Clinical
1. Is responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation of care and assists in the interpretation of data relevant to the patient’s condition and progress
2. Assists in the identification of patient problems and needs with the patient, their carers, senior nursing staff and other staff as appropriate
3. Identifies the priorities of care for patients
4. Identifies realistic goals for patients in care plans
5. Gives skilled care to patients and provides support to their carers
6. Administers drugs and treatments as prescribed according to the NMC guidelines and the Trust’s Guidelines for the Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines
7. Changes care plans and goals according to evaluation and discussion with the multidisciplinary team
8. Demonstrates an understanding and skill in the care and management of the critically ill patient
9. Works closely with all members of the care team to ensure the needs of the critically ill patient are met
10. Demonstrates proficiency in the care of CVP lines and the administration of IV Therapy in accordance with Trust Policy.
11. Participate in the smooth and effective discharge planning for patients
12. maintains accurate documentation to facilitate the continuity of care for patients transferred to other areas
13. Ensures that discharge review documentation is completed and reimbursement material is communicated to relevant body in timely fashion
14. Liase with nursing and clerical staff to enable efficient administration of ward work
Professional
1. Demonstrate a professional approach to work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times
2. To have knowledge of and adhere to ward and Trust policy and professional standards.
3. To maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity surrounding the patient/client’s admission and treatment at all times
4. Ensure that documentation is complete and up to date, in line with NMC and Trust guidelines
5. To meet PREP requirements. To identify own learning needs and ensure own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments
6. Ensure that mandatory and statutory training needs are met.
7. Participates in Clinical Supervision.
