Do you hold a passion for the environment, would you like the opportunity to protect and enhance a very special place? We believe Devon Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (DCIS) have an environment to envy but only if we keep it that way. That’s where you come in. Working alongside our Environment Planning Specialist, you will use our environmental datasets to develop plans to improve catchments across our area. You will also help prioritise sampling and advise the business and our partners on its evidence-based priorities.
We work in a multifunctional way across water quality and water resources, bridging FCRM (Flood Coastal Risk Management) and E&B (Environment & Business) ensuring that we identify solutions to key environmental issues faced across the DCIS Area. This is an opportunity to truly make a difference through delivering multi-functional environmental outcomes.
The workstreams covered by this role include:
- Planning, developing and prioritising our water quality and water quantity monitoring.
- Contributing to the DCIS Area Water Environment Regulations and River Basin Management Plan.
- Managing our environmental evidence including Water Framework Directive classification data stored on the Catchment Planning System and Catchment Data Explorer.
- Providing evidence to the wider business and partner organisations to support environmental protection and improvement.
- Visualisation and presentation of data in various formats, including use of ArcGIS or other mapping software.
Please note, we are not expecting the finished package. Alongside working with our Specialist, plenty of support and training will be available.
