Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
We are looking for a geomorphologist to join our Fisheries, Biodiversity & Geomorphology team, working across Yorkshire Area. You will provide advice to operational staff working at an area level to help us protect, restore and enhance the natural environment.
You will work closely with our Geomorphology Technical Specialist to provide advice, guidance and technical support to colleagues to deliver improvements to the ecological status of our rivers, lakes, estuaries and coastal waters, in line with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive (WFD).
You will proactively engage staff across the business and will help identify, design and deliver a programme of mitigation and restoration activities in surface waters. Your work with operational staff will ensure that we prevent or minimise geomorphological impacts arising from our own activities and those of third parties that we regulate. You will influence customers and build strong partnerships internally and externally to collaboratively achieve our goals.
You will keep up to date on changing legislation and best practice, in order to inform internal priorities and direction.
The role has a strong practical focus, involving regular site visits with colleagues to provide geomorphological advice.
