Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Rail Division based from our Normanton (Leeds) office - and there has never been a better time to join!

The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Story Contracting you will develop the QS role and to understand how to optimise margin on a project whilst protecting from commercial risk.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Input into the application and credit control processes
  • Understanding of income forecast and pricing of variations
  • Input into the change control system
  • Understanding of project risk
  • Input into the production of CVR.
  • Understanding of CTC
  • Input into providing forecasting data
  • Understanding the costing process
  • Understanding the management of the full sub-contract cycle and input into sub-contract documentation
  • Understanding of dispute resolution

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Recent Graduate with HND / Level 4 apprentice or degree with limited experience or sub HND with substantial experience or other equivalent
  • Commercially aware
  • IT skills: Word, Excel, COINS
  • Knowledge of methods of measurement
  • PTS/LUL
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret construction industry conditions of contract
