Vicar of Filey
St Oswald’s & St John’s, Filey
with St Thomas Gristhorpe
Our parish offers a wonderful mixture of contexts and opportunities. Our seaside and fishing location offers history, tradition and enjoyment. Our population embraces both long term Filonians and many newcomers; some live in comfort, others have significant social need. Our focus is on the town but we have rural hinterland also. We enjoy being the family of Christ in Filey, who love and serve God, filled by the Holy Spirit, seeking to share God’s love in word and action.
We are looking for a new Vicar who will embrace and enjoy this variety and will:
-
Encourage and lead us forward in mission, growth and development.
-
Communicate well, and able to reach across the generations.
-
Be a person of prayer who encourages, energises and inspires
-
Have a good understanding of local communities and their link to the life of the church
-
Support and develop our team of ministers, lay and ordained
-
Embrace and enjoy differing worship styles, drawing us closer to God
-
Bring energy and a sense of humour
We understand the pressures on our clergy and want to ensure you have time for your own reflection, prayer and renewal. We will pray for you, support you practically and enjoy sharing in our ministry with you. We are excited about this next chapter in our life together and look forward to meeting you.
