I am currently recruiting for an experienced Laboratory Technician to work for a lovely organisation in Liverpool City Centre. The role is to support the housekeeping duties of the laboratories within the institute. This is a technical role supporting a large volume of varied activities, providing an effective and efficient technical service for staff and students. This is a temporary position for approximately 12 weeks.
Hours: 8am-4pm OR 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday
Duties:

General tidiness, cleaning, and routine care of technical facilities and equipment

Decontamination of biological waste

Disposing of biological material and hazardous waste

Change of gas cylinders

Use of lab equipment including pH meters, dishwashers, water purification machines

Carrying out the cleaning, sterilising of glassware using the glassware washer
-
Laundry of laboratory coats and maintaining adequate stock of clean coats
-
Defrosting of freezers/cleaning of fridges, when necessary

Ensuring a constant supply of 70% ethanol/detergent for use in the laboratory

Assisting with the cleaning of water baths, work surfaces, shelving, floors

Occasionally assist with the preparation of media

Assisting with maintaining stock levels, unpacking deliveries, and restocking shelves
