Job description - Business Analyst
In this Business Analyst job, you will have the opportunity to support the Business Model Innovation team, a group of specialist energy consultants and analysts. You will work with partners to identify, analyse and validate future business models that can help transform the UK energy system to meet carbon reduction targets. You will draw upon internal resources and external experts to develop an evidence-based analysis for partners. Your work will be largely project-based – delivering advice and support to partners as part of their research & development strategy. You will support the delivery of workshops, presentations and reports. The role requires strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills. The work will be varied and fast-paced and requires someone with a willingness to be adaptable and innovative in delivery.
Key responsibilities - Business Analyst
In this Junior Business Analyst job in Birmingham, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the team with the evaluation and statistical analysis of new business models including customer, operational and commercial feasibility
- Delivering Business Model projects, or contributions to projects, and helping to ensure that they meet targets on time, within budget and to a high quality
- Developing analysis and insight reports on new energy markets and business models that can be utilised in projects and in thought leadership work
- Co-ordinating the validation of the business model with other teams
- Supporting the production of insight reports and dissemination material (e.g. charts, webpages, animated media etc.) to promote the business' work and findings
- Support on Business Development, bids and proposals to ensure the team has a regular and impactful pipeline of work
Job requirements - Business Analyst
- A strong academic background in a relevant discipline (e.g. relevant Business, Science or Engineering area)
- Strong stakeholder management
- Be highly numerate with strong analytical skills, able to perform wider market and commercial analysis
- Genuine commitment to low-carbon energy, and/or environmental sustainability
- Excellent IT skills, including spreadsheet skills, and preferably, database skills and programming skills
- Understanding of public policy principles and regulations and issues relevant to the energy transition
- Open-minded, resilient and intellectually creative
- Able to structure, engage with and progress solutions to complex, multi-dimensional problems
- Good writing and presenting skills, capable of communicating engagingly, with accuracy & clarity
- Experienced in using the usual suite of office software packages such as Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint
