Job Summary

The School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences at RGU is looking to appoint a lecturer in Non-medical prescribing to support the delivery of pharmacy courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This is a fixed term, 36-month appointment. This role is suitable for applicants with a wide range of clinical backgrounds, including nursing or medical as well as pharmacy. Annotation as a prescriber and active prescriber experience would also be desirable.

Considering the fast paced and evolving landscape of pharmacy education, this is an exciting time to be involved with initiatives within the School. We are currently involved in the re-design of the MPharm course and postgraduate course portfolio in response to the new GPhC education and training standards and other initiatives such as the Foundation training year, Clinical Academic Fellows and Consultant Pharmacist programmes.

The School has established three research themes that align directly with the principal areas of pharmacy education delivered across the taught courses. These three areas are: Research in Chemical Sciences (including analytical chemistry, drug design, formulation science and sterile manufacture of medicines); Research in Biological Sciences (incorporating biomedical sciences, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and nutrition),and Practice Research (including all patient-facing activities, professional experiences and educational research). Each of these themes is led by an experienced Professor with a proven international research reputation and track record in generating external funding.

This role is a fixed term post but, depending on suitable applicants, other FTE part-time options, job shares, and secondments may be considered. This post may be particularly attractive for applicants keen to gain or maintain experience of teaching and research within an academic setting.
