Water Supply Technician
Full time 37 hours per week plus participation on standby rota
Based in Berwick Area – Mobile Worker – Van will be provided
Salary from up to £31,329 per annum (depending on experience)
About the role
We are looking to recruit a Water Supply Technician to work within our water directorate here at Northumbrian Water. We are seeking an individual who will join the team that are responsible for operating and maintaining a 24-hour water supply service to 25,000 customers in the Berwick and Borders area. This water supply service covers water abstraction, treatment, network and customer field service activities.
This will include the operation of two new £20m water treatment works
Participation in a standby rota is a requirement of this role and a company vehicle will be provided so a driving licence is essential.
This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked
About you
The key requirement is that you’ll be enthusiastic, have a great attitude and a willingness to learn new skills together with having excellent interpersonal and team working skills in addition to a good understanding of Northumbrian Water’s objectives and ways of working
Ideally, you’ll have experience in operating, maintaining and optimising plant and equipment to a high standard in a safe and efficient manner and have pragmatic fault finding and problem solving skills. You could be from a utility, food, process or production background however, enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills are the key requirements.
You will be comfortable using IT systems – as Northumbrian Water use a number of work management systems and field equipment (SCADA and GIS)
You will be able to participate in a standby rota to respond to out of hours calls in a timely manner and a company vehicle will be provided so a driving licence is essential.
