GSK has launched a new centralised Supported Studies team that provides end to end contracting support for Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) and Supported Collaborative Studies (SCS). This is a unique opportunity to apply your advanced clinical contracts knowledge and negotiation expertise to help further GSK’s initiative to advance medical science and to support scientific collaboration.
This will be a hybrid role with the expectation to be onsite 2-3 days per week.
This role as a Contract Manager ISS/SCS will provide YOU the opportunity to deliver/lead key activities, to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include the following:
- Develop and negotiate highly complex, highly bespoke agreements for Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) and Supported Collaborative Studies (SCS) with Academia or other Institutions including Consortia.
- Lead ISS and SCS contract development for GSK by providing expert advice to develop detailed specifications, analyse proposals, negotiate/execute contracts and amendments that are robust, timely and add significant opportunity for value generation to the business while minimizing legal and financial risk to GSK.
- Determine and define scope of services required, identify, facilitate and proactively resolve business, legal and financial contracting issues.
- Deliver ongoing contract management at a global level in a timely and appropriate manner, including changes in scope/amendments and conflict resolution to reduce operational, financial or legal risk.
- Perform benchmarking analysis using industry accepted tools and systems to determine if budgets are within Fair Market Value (FMV).
- Ensure that appropriate authorization, routing of contracts, distribution and document management occurs.
- Serve as a liaison between GSK, internal and external parties.
- Demonstrate effectiveness in both oral and written communication, effectively express ideas and incorporate feedback into deliverables to generate quality output.
- Track contracts negotiation progress in centralized tracking system, open purchase orders and perform due diligence if/as required.
Key deliverables include:
- Negotiation and delivery of highly complex ISS and SCS Agreements at a Global Level.
- Build productive relationships with both internal and external key stakeholders for GSK ISS and SCS studies.
- Proactively Liaise with functional groups, the business and scientists to determine and define the scope of contract services required, as well as identify and facilitate resolution of business and legal issues (escalating to the team and/or GSK Legal when necessary) to minimize risk to GSK
- Draft and prepare templates, review redlines, draft and propose legal language as required in the end to end contracts process.
- Follow all applicable GSK SOPs/POLs/GUIs, HCP, GCP, ICH and regulatory guidelines.
- Timely and accurate updating of all department databases.
- Where required, review of relevant clinical protocol sections and supporting documentation.
- Prepare Fair Market Value (FMV) analysis and benchmarks.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two or more years experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry and the clinical development process, phase I-IV
- Two or more years of contracts negotiation experience in developing, executing and managing clinical contracts.
- Experience negotiating legal terms and conditions relating to Investigator Sponsored (ISS) and/or Supported Studies (SCS)
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels, across many disciplines both internally and externally.

Oncology experience desired.
- Understanding of costing or preparation of budgets for clinical contracts, establishing Fair Market Value.
- Experience with conducting negotiations, influencing, analysing and problem solving.
- Ability to work well under tight timelines and in rapidly changing situations day to day.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills required.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with strong problem-solving skills to find solutions to unexpected challenges
- Ability to work well independently but also as part of a team.
