Pendleton Sixth Form College is looking to recruit two hardworking and driven full-time teachers of Psychology on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic teaching professional with excellent subject knowledge and a strong academic background. It is essential that candidates are passionate about working in education and with young people and have high standards of achievement for all learners. We welcome applications from experienced teachers and newly qualified teachers. For Early Career Teachers (ECTs), we offer a full support programme which means you will be qualified to advance your future career in education. Start date: May – August.
_The Department and Role
_The Social Sciences department comprises of Psychology, Health and Social Care and Sociology.
Psychology is one of the most popular courses at Pendleton Sixth Form College and we offer two Level 3 Psychology courses. The A Level Psychology specification is with the OCR exam board and the BTEC Applied Psychology course is with Pearson. The successful candidate may be required to teach on both A Level and BTEC Applied Psychology.
We have a large department made up of experienced teachers and early career teachers. Many of our teachers have industry experience and in-depth knowledge of both exam boards. Our key strengths are that teaching and learning is at the heart of everything we do and we are proud to create supportive and academically challenging environments for our students to thrive in. Our Ambassadors scheme is well ingrained in to the department and is an important part of Social Sciences courses. We seek to appoint teachers who are team players and can bring imagination to their teaching. They need to be skilled in using technology to assist learning (e.g. Microsoft Teams), can instil passion and enjoyment about learning and can develop positive relationships with students.
