Social Media Director

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a creatively adventurous and strategically minded Social Media Director to join our award winning Social offering. Reporting directly into our Head of Social, you’ll lead across a number of high-profile accounts including global automotive and blue-chip clients and oversee a small, but extremely talented, team of Social Media Managers.
You’ll have two principal areas of responsibility:
- Delivering effective and unique social media content and advertising for our clients.
- Working with our H/O Social to build our social media offering, identifying, and securing new clients and elevating and expanding the work we do with our existing clients.
You’ll be evangelical regarding all things ‘social’ and will support and advise across the Agency, and wider network to ensure that clients and colleagues alike are set-up to harness the full power of social media. We are looking for someone versatile, charismatic, entrepreneurial, hands-on, and brave. We want to push the creative boundaries of what is possible across social channels and need an individual who can build strong connections, tell a story, and knows what it takes to make great work.
Responsibilities:
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Development, implementation and ongoing management of strategies, campaigns, and activities in social.
- Day-to-day management, scheduling, and publication across client social media properties, including developing content calendars, producing posts, social listening, moderation, outreach, crisis management and related activities.
- Strategic recommendation and development of creative for full-funnel paid social advertising campaigns.
- Supporting the Head of Social in managing and developing allocated client accounts, building the social media department & offers, and pitching for new business.
- Collaborating with and supporting the Strategy, Creative, Content, Data Science and Account teams across Tribal Worldwide London (and at times the wider DDB group) in developing social media proposals, consulting, pitches, engagements, and evaluation.
- Ensuring our social output achieves and maintains the highest possible standards for our clients.
- Evaluating performance and demonstrating effectiveness/business impact of our client’s social media activities via weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting.

Interacting regularly with clients, including providing updates, responding to, and evaluating requests, hosting meetings and leading presentations.
- Proactively generating ideas/innovation to improve and grow our clients’ social media activities.
- Proactively staying across developments and innovations in the social media sector and briefing the rest of the agency as required.
- Day to day management of social team members, including resourcing, allocating and scheduling work.
- Professional development of social team members, including conducting reviews, performance management, mentoring, and training.
- Assistance with the management and development of Tribal’s owned social channels.
Qualifications:
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- You’ll have extensive experience in a digital/social role, ideally having worked on leading consumer brands and/or global companies/clients.
- Social media campaign management, from planning to implementation & reporting.

You’ll be adept at anticipating and planning proactive solutions before launching campaigns and adaptable as situations change.

You’ll understand the digital ecosystem and importantly the role and potential of social media within it [Exposure to other digital marketing disciplines would be a bonus].
- Proven ability at building trusted working relationships with senior level clients and colleagues.
- Experience managing team members [or demonstrable leadership qualities].

Extensive knowledge of current and emerging social channels and the ability to articulate best [and worst] practices to colleagues and clients alike and drive social media strategies.
- Strategic understanding of content distribution techniques.

Adept at using enterprise level social media management and social listening tools [e.g., Spredfast, Sprinklr, Percolate, Conversocial, Brandwatch, Crimson Hexagon]

Excellent copywriting and editing skills and preferably you’ll have written for a marketing or social media blog or publication.
- Strong research and analytical skills and the ability to maximise data insights.

Sound understanding of audience targeting/messaging.

Able to work with (and influence) people across all departments and levels. You’ll be calm under pressure, autonomous, highly organised, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Brave and willing to take calculated risks and deliver proactive thinking and award-winning campaign ideas for a demanding and ambitious client.
