To support our ambitious plans for growth, we are recruiting a Business Development Manager to join our Business Development team in Glasgow. Reporting to and working closely with the Business Development Director at SB Drug Discovery, the role holder will focus on developing SB’s position as an industry leader in providing critical data for novel drug development through cell line generation, assay development and compound screening services.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Support all business development activity globally for SB Drug Discovery.
- Support and develop strategic partnership activities to deliver high value, high quality and long-term partnerships/benefits to the business.
- Build a robust pipeline of high quality, actionable opportunities that achieve annual revenue targets.
- Responsible for key account management and relationship building with existing clients - developing profitable and sustainable sales growth.
- Create and participate in meetings, presentations and proposal process for new and existing customers.
- Networking - Interact across all communication platforms on a regular basis and be a face of the company at key events, conferences, and exhibitions – this will necessitate regular travel both in the UK and overseas.
- Maintain a consultative and collaborative approach when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- Provide creative, consistent, concise, and accurate internal and external communications.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining the CRM system with new and updated opportunities.
Skills and Experience:
- Degree or higher-level qualification (or equivalent) in a biology focussed discipline.
- Previous sales experience in a life science related field OR experience of project management within a CRO environment.
- Self-motivated, and able to work individually and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Drug Discovery market.
- Can communicate effectively, orally and in writing, generally and in relation to scientific and technical topics.
- Commercial awareness and exceptional negotiation skills.
- Is able to build strong working relationship with customers and colleagues.
- Possesses strong organisational skills and the ability to work in a fast-moving environment.
- Has excellent attention to detail and is able to see work through from start to finish.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Proficient in all MS packages; MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
