Job Description
Job description for DE&S/SDA Data Analyst
As part of the Information Management & IT function, your impact will be felt across the organisation, helping to embed new technology and tools, automate processes and improve data management. We’ll support you to innovate, as you bring positive change and fresh ideas to the team. Don’t settle for the status quo. Improve on what’s gone before – and drive for what’s next.
This is an exciting time to join the MI & Data Analytics team here at Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), and our sister organisation, the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), as we grow our community with the hiring of a number of Data Analysts, who will support our continued journey to transform the usage and quality of data across the organisation.
The work of a DE&S Data Analyst is front and centre of the DE&S 2025 strategy. In joining our team, you will be able to bring your entire skillset to the role.
We have multiple roles available; some are delivering analytical solutions for business needs, tackling data manipulation, ETL, and reporting. We also have roles supporting the Data Quality Boards which involves liaising with stakeholders, communications planning and further analysis of data maturity.
You’ll work with the industry standard MS BI stack and will have the opportunity to explore an increasing number of complex datasets, solve interesting problems, form new questions, challenge the established narrative, and inform stakeholders in key functions across the organisation with compelling visualisations.
If you have professional experience of producing Management Information and the analysis of data, this could be the perfect opportunity to progress your career. We would also be interested to know if you have any experience utilising SQL for Data Analysis or use of Data Visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Cognos or Crystal Reports. This is not essential to applying but would be a point of interest to discuss further during the process.
We offer outstanding training and development opportunities, defined progression routes, and a host of other benefits including our ‘Smarter Working’ policy, which means that you’ll be able to enjoy a high degree of flexible working whilst also having the opportunity to work at our MOD Abbey Wood campus.
Please note, due to the nature of work, some posts are Reserved (open to UK Nationals only) and require SC (Security Clearance).
We strongly recommend tailoring your CV in line with our CV guidance before applying, with specific sections to highlight Key Achievements, Relevant Experience, and Applied Skills & Knowledge.
