Department Description
Our Regulatory Consulting team forms part of our market leading Financial Services legal practice offering an integrated solution to our clients which is unique and fresh in the market. The team works closely with lawyers, navigating complex regulations and marrying legal insight with regulatory consulting knowledge and experience to understand the operational, conduct, governance, risk and compliance needs of clients ranging from major financial institutions and technology companies to FinTech start-ups.
The work is high-profile and varied. We work on global compliance reviews, devise strategies and approaches for the creation of new digital banks, products & offerings assisting clients with the design and implementation of new frameworks, governance & reporting structures, policies, procedures and processes. We also work on major regulatory change programmes and authorisations for different types of firms and support on litigation and enforcement and corporate and commercial transactions.
Our specialist team has a broad range of operational and regulatory skills & experience, having worked for regulators, big four consultancies and a wide range of financial services institutions in different roles and seniority giving us the bespoke knowledge and insight to provide innovative and tailored solutions.
Role Overview
Business Consultants are an integral part of the Hogan Lovells Consulting team advising clients on the impact of the changing regulatory market. Working alongside the legal team to provide guidance and support to clients on regulatory compliance, risk management, and governance matters, the individual performing this role will work to identify and assess risks, provide feedback on key operational documentation, support in the drafting of good practice policy templates and identify opportunities, whilst developing strategies to address them.
The role will involve a significant amount of time working directly with clients, and provide an opportunity to identify new opportunities. An ability to think independently and provide clear and considered views, taking into account regulatory, operational and commercial needs will be critical.
The role is ideally suited to someone working in a financial institution, a consulting firm or a regulatory body.
A successful candidate will ideally have strong experience in financial services, compliance within industry, and/or consulting experience. Experience of remediation programmes, regulatory change programmes and implementation will be well suited.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
As part of the Financial Services Regulatory Consulting team, you’ll work with members of Consulting and Legal teams, and be building relationships with our clients day to day. Key responsibilities of the role include:

Demonstrating detailed knowledge of concepts and issues in regulatory environments, and ability to research as necessary for relevant markets

A strong working knowledge of industry processes and ability to actively think about them and how they apply to client situations

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
-
Experience in financial services, compliance experience, and/or consulting experience.

Knowledge of FCA handbook including; Conduct of Business (BCOB, MCOB, ICOB), SYSC, and DISP.

Strong academic background ideally to degree level / Professional Financial Services Qualifications
-
Experience as a level D (Assistant manager), or level E (Analyst) is ideal.
