Role overview
Introduction to the role:
We are looking for an Associate to join the Travel and Leisure part of our PI & Regulatory team. Working closely with an established team, you will advise clients on matters relating to travel law, regulatory compliance, commercial and media law. Our clients include companies offering international and UK holidays, the cruise and ferry industry, hotel owners and industry bodies.
Introduction to the team:
You will be joining the wider PI & Regulatory team – Marine Business Group, headed up by John Caddies, who have a long track record of successfully advising clients on the legal aftermath of major and minor air, land and sea incidents including criminal and regulatory incidents and defending personal injury claims in a cost-effective and pro-active manner.
Key responsibilities:
- Advising on contractual matters, clients booking terms and conditions, conditions of carriage, website compliance and consumer protection and regulatory issues
- Dealing with litigious claims
- Drafting commercial agreements
- Development of own internal and external network of contacts and play a significant role in business development for the team.
What we are looking for
Essential
- Experience in travel law and claims (In house or private practice)
- Transactional, drafting and negotiating experience
- Ability/willingness to work as part of a team and independently
- An interest and aptitude for developing new business
- Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Pragmatic approach to legal and commercial problem-solving
- Demonstrable ability to meet deadlines and adhere to guidelines and procedures (client and internal)
Desirable
- Experience of hotel contracts, drafting supplier’s contracts such as excursion providers, car hire companies, coach companies.
- Experience in relation to airline claims
- Knowledge of Regulations and Conventions such as the Package Travel Regulations, the Montreal Convention, the Athens Convention
- Basic knowledge of personal injury claims
