An exciting opportunity has arisen for family support workers to join our team.
PAFA is a Residential Family Assessment Centre, located on separate properties in the Wirral. Our purpose is to educate and assess parents ability to provide 'Good enough Parenting' with their new-born babies and/or toddlers. We currently provide support to 4 families, the other property supports 1 family. We deliver sessions focusing on the Children and Families Assessment triangle, focusing on the child's developmental needs, parenting capacity and the family and environmental factors. Any identified need, the parent and child are supported and educated to meet this unmet need to enhance their overall care of themselves and their children.
The role of the family support worker will be expected to support/ educate parents in their day to day lives, supporting/ teaching them care for their children safely whilst completing in detailed case recordings during the 12-14 week assessment period, These recording support the Social worker to complete the parenting assessment which outlines recommendations to the Local Authority to plan for the childs future needs.
We work within a Multi disciplinary team working together for the best outcomes of the babies/ children.
All candidates must have a full work history and 2 references, without this you will not be considered for the role.
Gaps in Work History must be explained such as Searching for Work / Travelling / Sickness or any other reason / explanation.
Job Type / Category
Candidates are required to cover week day, night shifts and Weekend Shifts and also on a ad hoc basic covering sickness/holidays and any extra shifts that may need covering for families who may require extra support. These can be discussed in more detail at the interview stage.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Family Support Worker
It is desirable that
· Candidates must have good Communication Skills
· Candidates will be responsible for observing and recording the daily life of the child and parents.
· Candidates will need to be confident in relation to intervention skills to Safeguard and meet the welfare of Children and Vulnerable adults
· Candidates have experience within a social care setting or residential placement working with children and families.
· Candidates have knowledge regarding issues impacting on children and families such as Domestic Abuse, Learning Needs, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Misuse.
· Candidates will have knowledge in respect of Child Development
· Candidates have experience in working with families and conflict resolution
· Candidates have experience of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
· Candidates understand children’s rights and diversity
· Candidates are Car Drivers with relevant Business Insurance
Nights are a 12 hour shift from 8:30pm -8:45am with up to 4 hour sleep, depending on the current residents and the level of risk, at times it will be a waking night with a 1 hour break. There are always 2 staff on the night shifts. The Day shifts are from 08:30 - 20:45, with an hour break split through the day.

We are ensuring that all staff remain covid free by having testing kits on site, that staff can take home. The Family unit maintains a high levels of cleanliness and hand hygiene. The home is deep cleaned throughout the day.
