About The Role
Positioned with the Environment and Climate Divison the role will be an active member of the Parks Development team responsible and accountable for the effective development, management and delivery of the council’s parks and open spaces improvement programme to include capital projects and service improvements.
To identify and provide leadership, planning and monitoring on parks improvement projects to ensure the delivery of the council’s vision and objectives to increase access to parks services throughout the borough.
To oversee all aspects of the project using planning, monitoring, and controlling processes in accordance with corporate policy and best practice project management techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
1.To support the Head of Parks Development in delivering the Council’s strategic priorities for public health and leisure. Identify, develop and implement opportunities for greater integration between parks services and the delivery of wellbeing and cultural objectives.
2.To provide leadership, planning and monitoring on parks projects, as allocated by the Head of Parks Development, to ensure the delivery of the council’s vision and objectives, as defined in Council commitments and agreed Service Plans, in accordance with all Council standards and procedures.
3.To be responsible for developing the project plans, resource plans and milestones, tasks and the management of risk and outcomes.
4.Monitor performance against agreed objectives, targets and budgets, reporting progress and taking action where necessary to identify and correct potential problems. Resolve any problems, mitigate risk and manage sensitive political issues as they arise
Your Skills:
1.Proven track record of planning and delivering green space project work using a structured project management methodology
2.Proven experience of using project management skills and knowledge of parks and open spaces services to develop, implement and assess policies, programmes, and strategies
3.Experience of managing and delivering capital regeneration projects
4.Understanding of the park’s role in the wider leisure, culture and health agenda
Professional Qualifications
Educated to university degree level or can demonstrate equivalent experience.
