Job Description

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.
We wish to appoint two Research Assistants to the Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis (O-CAP) research group, based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. The post-holder will work on an exciting new study being conducted by the team. The supervisors will be Prof Daniel Freeman, Dr Laina Rosebrock, and Dr Felicity Waite.
These posts are for a fixed term of 12 months, from August 2023.
The post-holders will contribute to studies across the team, but one study in particular will be the focus: a trial evaluating a new virtual reality treatment for young people with psychosis. Experience will be gained of NHS Services and a wide range of assessment measures, including structured interviews and self-report questionnaires. The posts will provide excellent experience of clinically relevant research and would suit a person interested in going on to either clinical psychology training or further research.
Currently located in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, we will be moving to the new, purpose-built Life and Mind Building (Home | The Life and Mind Building (ox.ac.uk)) a multidisciplinary research and teaching facility due to open in 2024.
With a psychology degree (2:1 or above), you will have an interest in the psychological understanding and treatment of psychosis. Participants will be seen in clinic settings or at home across a large geographical area. Although some appointments will take place remotely, there is likely to be extensive travel which would be facilitated by having valid driving licence, and access to own or other independent means of transport.
You will be required to upload a CV, supporting statement and details of two referees as part of your application. If selected for interview, this will last 30 minutes with Professor Freeman, Dr Rosebrock and Dr Waite. This will be followed by a written task, lasting 20 minutes, which will be administered by members of the research team.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 7th July 2023.
