Transfer Station and Traffic Supervisor
Salary: 32,500.00 Plus Veolia Benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 am to 3:00 pm

What you’ll do
We have an exciting opportunity at Southwark as a permanent position is available within the
Logistic department as Transfer Station and Traffic Supervisor.
You will be responsible for the safe and timely flow of vehicles tipping and waste being collected on one of the biggest recycling sites in London. For this you will supervise a 21 strong team of yellow plant drivers, traffic marshalls, and transfer station operators with the help of an experienced traffic team leader.
You will work closely with every department on site as your yellow plant drivers ensure the
24h running of the Material Recycling facility (MRF), Mechanical Biological plant (MBT) and
Transfer Station (TS).
In particular, the Transfer Station and Traffic Supervisor will be responsible for;
● The day to day running of the Transfer Station and the cleanliness of the entire site
● A skilled team of Yellow Plant, Traffic Marshal and TS operators.
● Ensuring the safety of pedestrians, contractors, customers, staff and vehicles within the high risk areas such as tipping halls and the vehicle circulation area.
● Monitoring that site procedures are followed and reporting any safety issues or near misses on AVA our digital safety reporting tool.
● Ensuring that all monthly checks, visits and rotas are completed on time
● Constant communication with MRF, MBT and Logistic Supervisor so queuing times and loading times are minimised
● Having a strong relationship with all suppliers so yellow plants and forklift are in good working condition
● Keeping track of all maintenance costs and 3rd party works and how those align with budget
● Carrying out all return to work, absence reviews and investigations in due course
The experience you will need
Essential:
● Safety awareness
● Good team management and ability to defuse stressful situations
● Strong Communication skill
● Experience gained in a similar role
Desirable:
● Yellow plant (360, Shovel) licence
● Yellow plant maintenance knowledge
● Traffic marshall / banksman experience
● Technical competence (CoTC)
● IOSH managing safely
