Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for Forensic Psychologists to support residents in Penrose Drive, our Independent Approved Premises, towards healthier, crime-free futures. The role will focus on providing psychological assessments, interventions, and support for our residents and participants who have multiple and complex needs, and supporting the staff team to ensure every interaction is aligned with the support plan for that individual. You will work alongside probation services, courts, prisons, police, and other internal and external stakeholders to offer a high-quality, holistic service.

This role is listed as 22.5 hours per week but we will consider interest in doing 1, 2, or 3 days per week. We are flexible on the rota and can work to your availability.

This role is the equivalent of NHS band 8B

ABOUT THE SERVICE

Penrose Drive Independent Approved Premises: A 24/7 accommodation and support service for men leaving prison, providing high levels of support, supervision and complex care. Penrose Drive is a vital part of the rehabilitation process and supporting public protection. The service can accommodate 25 residents within an enabling environment. We engage residents in a comprehensive schedule of purposeful activities and interventions to reduce the risk of reoffending, prepare them to resettle back into the community, and improve self-confidence, resilience and opportunities to access employment, training and education.

We are located a short walk from Elephant and Castle tube station and there is onsite parking available.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a self-starter, who is able to pro-actively encourage, take leadership, and ownership for a positive psychological environment. You will be able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information effectively, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and undertake care co-ordination/lead practitioner responsibilities. We are looking for someone who is able to engage with vulnerable people and work effectively in highly distressing and challenging circumstances. You will be able to use your own initiative, manage your own workload, and make decisions which affect others, and accept and respond positively to feedback.
