Job Title: Social Media & Marketing Assistant

Salary: £23,000 – 26,000 Per Annum

Reports to: Programme Manager

Hours: Full Time 35 hours per week

Location: Manchester Technology Centre, Oxford Road, Manchester, M1 7ED

Job Summary

The Blair Project (TBP) is a motorsport STEM education provider which exists to develop the schools to employment pipeline of diverse, homegrown talent to drive the electric revolution and tackle climate change. This is done through delivery of our e-motorsport STEM programme called ProtoEV. STEM stands for Science Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing. It involves the retrofitting of used petrol go karts and converting them into fully electric e-karts which adult and youth teams get to test and race to see which is the fastest and most energy efficient. ProtoEV makes STEM learning fun for marginalized individuals who often have low awareness of careers in science, green tech and engineering.

We are also currently part of a consortium delivering a programme called Planet Possibility, which has been set up to increase accessibility and participation in physics, and change young people’s perceptions on the different careers that can be accessed through the subject. It is specifically targeted at young people that traditionally wouldn’t pursue careers within Physics - young people from BAME backgrounds, young women, young people that identify as LGBTQ+, young people that identify as neurodiverse, and those from a lower socio-economic backgrounds. As part of this programme, the Blair Project delivers activities such as our STEM Truck mobile interactive workshops; Connect, Create, Belong – our online physics club; See Me Be Me – our weekly podcast where we speak to inspirational figures from diverse backgrounds about their career journey in STEM; and finally we release weekly Tik Tok videos that cover physics in a fun and engaging way.

The Social Media and Marketing Assistant will develop the marketing strategies, campaigns, and tactics to grow our ‘trailblazer’ brand profile and showcase our ongoing successes as a champion of diversity in motorsport and engineering.

Responsibilities:

· Opportunity to help to maintain and develop the TBPs Wordpress website.

· Community management via social media

· Planning, creating and scheduling social media posts

· Blog creation & uploading via CMS

· Email creation

· Administrative tasks such as monthly reporting & CRM data-entry

· Develop and implement the strategy for paid search and paid social campaigns.

· Create, deliver & optimise client PPC campaigns.

· Create and manage ad campaigns.

· Create, deliver & optimise client SEO campaigns.

· Develop and manage outbound marketing campaigns to generate sales leads.

· Design & create marketing content for all communications with the social media producer, such as research, gather information, create, write, proof read & print

· To produce regular marketing reports to test and measure the results of marketing activities & analyse for improvements

· Identify potential marketing partnership opportunities for the business

· General administrative duties to ensure the day to day business runs effectively

· Additional projects agreed to meet your personal development goals

· Assisting and enhancing the delivery of outreach activities

You must have:-

· Substantial social media management experience (essential) (2 years minimum)

· Experience in both organic and paid social delivery (essential)

· Experience in managing and creating social media content, strategy and execution (essential)

· Knowledge and understanding of social media management tools such as Buffer (essential)

· Understanding of content marketing and a range of digital campaign tactics (desirable)

· Experience with creation of visual assets for social media using relevant tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Premiere Pro (desirable)

· Experience of developing campaign strategies and a track record of success (desirable)

· Ability to work in both a team environment and use initiative to work independently (essential)

· Good analytical understanding to organise and interpret data. Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of Google Analytics.

· Effective interpersonal and communication skills

· Good written and oral communication skills

· Excellent time management and organisational skills

· Flexibility and adaptability

· Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure

· A professional manner and attitude

· Be IT literate: Familiar with using word processing, databases, spreadsheets, project management software and web applications including email, e-marketing, surveys etc.

Role Requirements

· A sound understanding of social media industry and platforms

· A creative mind, thinking innovatively when it comes to social media and content campaigns

· Create newsletter, blogs, Vlogs and other opportunities for member engagement and feedback

· Work with other Blair Project teammates to create marketing campaigns for Blair Project initiatives using innovative approaches and concepts

· Analyses and reports audience information, demographics and success of existing social media projects

· Organised and process-driven approach to work

· Thrives in a fast paced and agile environment

· Strong communicator both internally and externally

· Self-motivated and enthusiastic, happy to get involved in a variety of activities

· Team player, working with teams across the business
