We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher with a background in biology/neuroscience/computer science to join our exciting “innovaTEbehaviour” research project. The overall aim of this endeavour is to understand how differences in the genomes of individuals contribute to genetic innovation and behavioural diversity in animals and humans (see treiberlab.com for more details).
In this post you will contribute to generating the first splice-isoform specific single-cell transcriptomic atlas of an entire complex brain and investigate the impact of genetic polymorphisms in Drosophila melanogaster on complex brain functions using functional imaging and behavioural testing.
Our atlas will also reveal many new research avenues that could offer the opportunity to establish your own independent research program going forward and we will work with you to develop your research skills and scientific independence. As a valued member of the team, you will be fully integrated into the open-minded and visionary research environment at the Biology department and within the wider scientific community at Oxford University.
Please note that prior experience with Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism is NOT a requirement for this post.
