Job overview: We require a highly motivated and committed nurse to join the Children in Care Team in Whittington health. You will need to travel to where the children live throughout England as well as see children in the clinic in Tynemouth rd. Tottenham. You will receive structured support and training via the team. The primary focus of this role will be to undertake statutory health assessments for Children in Care aged 0-18 years and attendance at professional meetings. You will be responsible for ensuring the health needs of this vulnerable cohort are met. You will be a Registered Nurse or Children's Nurse with experience working in the community setting and must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development. The post holder will be expected to work under supervision using their own initiative following training. He/she will receive on-going support and supervision via the Designated Nurse for Children in Care.

The post holder will work collaboratively across the Health and Social Care setting with a wide range of professionals and agencies within the public and private sector to ensure that looked after children and young people receive the appropriate services in order to reach their full potential, as outlined in Promoting the Health and Wellbeing of Looked after Children (2015) and demonstrate Level 4 competencies outlined in Intercollegiate Competencies for Looked After Children (2015).
The post holder will develop, co-ordinate and facilitate access to a broad range of health services in order to ensure looked after children, care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children’s needs are met and positive outcomes for this vulnerable group are achieved.
The post holder will link with the child or young persons named social worker or personal assistant and other professionals and will work actively as a member of a multi disciplinary team, whose priority is the care of looked after children and young people.

The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing policies relating to the health needs of looked after children and young people, care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating health needs review assessments; ensuring individual packages of care are formulated and implemented.
The post holder will provide support and training to a wide range of professionals in order to promote the health of looked after children, care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
The post holder will ensure that all local and national policy initiatives are reflected in the service delivered.

The post holder is required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team assessing the health needs of looked after children and young people.

Clinical Practice
The post holder will work alongside other staff to:
- Promote excellence in clinical care by ensuring that practice is evidence based
- Contribute on the development, implementation and review of policies, protocols and guidelines in line with local and national policy
- Engage with and motivate colleagues and peers
- Work collaboratively at a clinical level to support practitioners in their practice
- Identifying learning opportunities for staff and assist with individual progression through the competency framework
- Contribute to the induction of new starters within CIC health and social care
- Act as an expert resource for advice, information, guidance and support for staff within health and social care
- Consult on complex issues in relation to looked after children, care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in formal settings
- Work effectively within the team as well as within the wider organisation
- Prioritise, organise and carry out own work effectively
- Actively promote quality in all areas of work across health and social care
- Implement, promote and maintain quality and governance systems and processes across health and social care
- Carry out individual health assessments in order to address the complex health needs of children in care, whom are difficult to engage
- Carry a clinical caseload.
Professional Leadership
The post holder will:
- Influence and contribute to the development of the speciality by demonstrating the ability to keep up to date with current and emerging health and social care agenda and the wider children’s agenda.
- Act as a resource for information, advice and support for children, young people, carers and other professionals within mainstream services.
- Ensure practice is evidence based and delivered to an agreed standard in line with governance and quality frameworks.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of training programmes, in conjunction with Learning and Development.
- Contribute to the participation in audit and dissemination of findings.
- Contribute to networks locally, regionally and nationally and establish links.
- Work in partnership with the Children in Care Team to ensure a seamless service.
- Report and contribute on the investigation process of all clinical incidents, complaints and untoward incidents in relation to looked after children, care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
- Contribute to the development of protocols, guidelines and policies appropriate to the post working collaboratively with other staff and agencies.
- Develop and maintain multi-agency partnerships to ensure looked after children, care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children are prioritised in accessing health services.
- Identify gaps and barriers in service provision and implement measures to address them where possible.
