Job overview: We require a highly motivated and committed nurse to join the Children in Care Team in Whittington health. You will need to travel to where the children live throughout England as well as see children in the clinic in Tynemouth rd. Tottenham. You will receive structured support and training via the team. The primary focus of this role will be to undertake statutory health assessments for Children in Care aged 0-18 years and attendance at professional meetings. You will be responsible for ensuring the health needs of this vulnerable cohort are met. You will be a Registered Nurse or Children's Nurse with experience working in the community setting and must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development. The post holder will be expected to work under supervision using their own initiative following training. He/she will receive on-going support and supervision via the Designated Nurse for Children in Care.

The post holder will work collaboratively across the Health and Social Care setting with a wide range of professionals and agencies within the public and private sector to ensure that looked after children and young people receive the appropriate services in order to reach their full potential, as outlined in Promoting the Health and Wellbeing of Looked after Children (2015) and demonstrate Level 4 competencies outlined in Intercollegiate Competencies for Looked After Children (2015).

The post holder will develop, co-ordinate and facilitate access to a broad range of health services in order to ensure looked after children, care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children’s needs are met and positive outcomes for this vulnerable group are achieved.

The post holder will link with the child or young persons named social worker or personal assistant and other professionals and will work actively as a member of a multi disciplinary team, whose priority is the care of looked after children and young people.

The post holder will ensure that all local and national policy initiatives are reflected in the service delivered.

The post holder will contribute to the development of the service for this client group.

The post holder is required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team assessing the health needs of looked after children and young people.

The post holder will advise staff and carers on health-related issues and provide interventions for the children and young people in care.
