Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to become our new Centre Manager at our Wildlife Centre at Mallydams Wood. The Centre Manager is responsible for the operation of the Wildlife Centre at Mallydams Wood as well as working in partnership with the education team.

This is a unique site with a wildlife rehabilitation centre seeing 1000's of wildlife casualties each year, an education centre with overnight accommodation for groups, and ancient woodland.

A key part of the role is ensuring that the site is providing the best quality wildlife care and rehabilitation, in line with RSPCA policies and best practice. You will also be expected to collaborate in the continual development of policies and process. The role involves being an effective leader to the staff & volunteers, leading on recruitment, overseeing and performing training, and the development of the team. The role involves budgetary control, strong leadership, collaborating with the education team based on site, managing the woodland, and many more activities.

Mallydams Wood site is one of our four Wildlife Centres, and home to our flagship Prevention and Education Hub. The Centre Manager and the veterinary team will work with the other wildlife sites to ensure a consistent approach is in place for the rehabilitation of the animals in your care, as well as working in a safe and biosecure way. The successful candidate will need to be able to lead the on site wildlife team effectively, giving them guidance on best practice, coaching them and steering them to effective development, and being part of overseeing the everyday operation through the leadership and veterinary team. They will also work with the RSPCA Education team on site in a collaborative manner and explore ways to further enrich the educational offer as part of the society's wider Prevention through education strategy. They will work collaboratively with the other wildlife centre managers, the Society's experts, to ensure that all of the Society's wildlife services are up to date and operating in line with best practice
