The main goal of this role is to protect people and property from flooding. This role will develop your technical, influencing and team working skills to influence development through our regulatory role in planning and permitting, building relationships with partners such as councils and engaging with a variety of customers on flood risk matters. You will also support and lead on flood risk modelling and larger projects.
A typical week may involve:
- Analysing planning & permit applications and influencing developers to manage/improve flood risk
- Contributing to projects, building business cases for flood alleviation projects
- Working alongside councils and communities to improve flood risk management
- Collaborating to achieve multiple benefits e.g., carbon savings, ecology gain, flood benefits
- Training on planning/engineering/modelling
- Catchment/project site visits
- Supporting our incident response responsibilities
- Data management

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
