Your role
Are you an experienced practitioner in the area of Data Management, including exposure to use of Big data, data commercialization and other advanced use of Data? Are you risk minded and do you advocate for the importance of operational risks?
We’re looking for a Data controller to:
- act as a compliance and operational risk control (C&ORC) subject-matter expert for Data Management related risks
- oversee the UBS Group Data Management Office (GDMO) in their role as owners of the UBS Data Management Framework, and its effective maintenance and implementation in accordance with changing regulatory requirements, and support the GDMO with effective challenge, sound advice and oversight across the full range of risk management lifecycle activities, including risk identification, assessment, and oversight of remediation planning and execution
- deliver independent risk assessment and provide effective challenge to the 1st line of defense for Data Management related risks
- build strong relationships with IT and Business stakeholders (including Group Operations & Technology Office (GOTO), Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, and Audit functions) to proactively identify risk issues, and drive remediation activities
- work with C&ORC counterparts on their coverage of Data related risks in their division or function, and act as the 2LoD Data Risk SME
- engage in regulatory interactions and be the 2LoD SME on Data Risk. This includes oversight of general queries, consultations, inspections, incident reporting

Your team
You will be working in the Emerging Technology, Data and Change Risk team, reporting to the Group Head of C&ORC GF & OR Emerging Technology, Data & change Risk, ideally in the Tristate, Nashville or London (UK). We are part of the Compliance & Operational Risk Control (C&ORC) function and provide oversight of risks related to emerging technologies, Data and Strategic Change across the UBS Group.

Your expertise
- ideally 7+ years of experience in Data Management related roles
- technically experienced with Data warehousing technology, data architectures, data lineage and other technical data concepts
- bachelor or Master degree (or equivalent) in computer science or other subjects, which provide a foundation for data management best practices
- analytical mindset, with the ability to provide practical solutions for minimizing risk
- result-oriented and assertive (you don’t shy away from challenging situations)
- fluent in English
