Teaching Standards Education Officer

Responsible to

Head of Education and Standards

Role Purpose

The role of Teaching Standards Education Officer has a high profile and impact as a key teaching professional ambassador for GTC Scotland externally.

The role works to explore and engage with the teaching profession and partners, educate about our public policies and, in collaboration with the Accreditation Quality Officer, ensure we implement our standards and accreditation related policies, so that trust in the teaching profession and GTC Scotland is maintained and enhanced.

This role supports GTC Scotland to deliver our statutory functions and meet the needs of the teaching profession, our partners and the public.

Criteria

Qualifications and Training

Essential

Qualified at SCQF level 9 (teaching qualification) aligning with registration with GTC Scotland

Evidence of ongoing professional learning

Desirable

Post-graduate qualification in education (minimum SCQF level 11)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

Evidenced leadership experience in stakeholder engagement and educational partnership working

Leadership experience in building and maintaining effective working partnerships with internal and external users and partners

Evidence of delivering with impact

Evidence of effective decision-making that takes account of complex and/or difficult circumstances

Proven ability to balance operational detail and planning

Deep evidenced understanding of Scottish education and the impact on GTC Scotland registrants, partners and the public

High quality written skills

High quality analytical skills

Good digital literacy including competency with Microsoft 365 applications (including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Dynamics)

Desirable

An understanding of the political educational and wider context and the impact for GTC Scotland

An understanding of effective engagement and the impact on the system

Evidence of achieving excellent service delivery

Evidence of change leadership

Proven leadership experience involving educational management

Effective resource management
