In November 2022, we announced one of the most exciting and significant strategic developments in our history, our first satellite campus outside Sheffield, in Brent Cross, London.
High-quality central services will be vital to the success of the London campus, which will be an integrated part of the Hallam offer, meaning we can enhance our provision with dual locations for teaching, learning, work-based activities, consultancy and research and development.
This exciting new role will initially be based at our Sheffield City Campus, although regular travel to London will be required and you will increasingly be based in London as the campus takes shape. Importantly, we need people who share our ‘Hallam Values’ of ambition, collaboration, inclusion, innovation and integrity, visibly role modelling these within the University and externally.

The Role
Working collaboratively across the University, providing proactive leadership and direction, taking responsibility for the development and delivery of high performing services in Human Resources and Organisational Development which deliver the University’s operational priorities and strategic aims.
Specifically, as part of the HROD Senior Team, this role has both individual and collective ownership, accountability and responsibility to deliver the University’s cross-cutting HROD agenda.
The HROD Team
The Directorate of Human Resources and Organisational Development (HROD) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the University meets its strategic objectives. We provide professional guidance and operational support to meet the evolving people management needs of the University.
We work closely with managers across the University and are committed to supporting the recruitment, retention, reward, recognition and development of staff to ensure future success. Developing a student and business focus as the higher education sector evolves means that our work is constantly changing.
Our staff are skilled practitioners with a broad range of experience which they apply on a daily basis. We have a strong multi-disciplinary focus and provide all key HROD functions in-house. The directorate has around 50 staff who work together in smaller functional teams delivering a range of professional HROD services including recruitment and selection, reward, an HR advisory service, people development and HR administration as well as more specialist areas such as change management, employee relations, equality, diversity and inclusion, payroll and systems and processes.
