Job Description

Job Introduction

You'll be joining the Route Services Transformation team, which is part of the corporate structure known as Finance and Business Support, within the Route Services directorate. Your role involves supporting the function to deliver services that are vital to the running of the railway, delivering the provision of services agreed by the routes to allow them to benefit from economies of scale and the optimisation of our critical resources.

The Transformation team is a small team of programme and business change professionals who work across the Route Services directorate.

This role will support the delivery of any Route Services level organisational & transformational change programmes, local implementation of national organisational change programmes and internal Finance & Business Support transformation/improvement projects.

The team are currently focused on two main programmes; Route Services Simplification and supporting the business to deliver its modernisation changes.

This role will support both programme teams in the successful management and delivery of key milestones.

This role will undertake key support to the Project Leads to ensure the correct programme governance in place; this will range from keeping programme finances up to date, assisting in setting up contracts for external support, maintaining RAID logs and the programme action plans and chasing key stakeholders for progress on actions. The role will also support in the production of key deliverables; this can range from drafting key documents required for consultation of changes to supporting our business architects in delivering key mapping and analysis of the organisation.

We are looking for a self-motivating individual with strong organisational skills who can prioritise tasks effectively and has a high degree of attention to detail. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of people and will work across different programmes where the need is greatest.

This role will provide a great opportunity to hone programme/project management and stakeholder skills so a passion to learn & develop will be key.

Experience of working in a change project or programme environment would be an advantage.

To provide coordination and administrative support to the programme team.


What will you be doing?


  • Assist the Project Management team in the delivery of projects to time, cost and quality in a safe manner.
  • Collate, format and distribute data to support project requirements. Cascade to internal and external parties where appropriate.
  • Using the available reporting systems and guidelines monitor and report on project progress.
  • Maintain and generate project and programme documentation in accordance with project reporting system guidelines.
  • Participate in projects as required.

Essential

  • Educated to HND/HNC level, relevant project or administration experience
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PPT)

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of project-based working
  • Obtained or working towards a project related qualification
  • Networking and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commercial & financial awareness
