Looking for Part-time work? Why not start a career in social care that can be both rewarding and adventurous? No experience needed!
You’ll join our friendly team in Oswestry as a Part-Time Support Worker. You will provide invaluable support to 5 young people in their 20s and early 30s; who live in their own home and for Charlotte* who lives in her own property. The homes are based within walking distance from town centre.
The various shift patterns through which we provide 1:1 support are:
8am – 4pm
4pm – 10pm
In addition to your £10.50 an hour base salary, you’ll have the opportunity to work sleep-ins* at £60 per night. You’ll also have the pleasure of receiving the Blue Light discount card and making savings at the checkout, along with other benefits detailed below.
Intrigued to know a bit more about the people you would be supporting?
Let us introduce you to the charming George* and dashing Louis*, who both have part time jobs in the town. The ever so lovely Beatrice* works from home for Macintyre. She reviews and improves our communication materials and ensures they are clear for the people we support. The wonderful Eugenie* & the gorgeous Charlotte*, work as volunteers in the local community.
Outside of work they enjoy Special Olympics, discos, line dancing, going to the gym, Slimming World, and National Trust visits. After a busy day they like to chillax playing on their games machines, watching TV together and having fun times.
We asked them what they want from their new support worker. Here's what they had to say.
-
Listen to me, discuss things with me, ask my opinion.
-
Do not talk at me. I am an adult.
-
Support me to do things, not do them for me.....even if it takes a long time
-
To recognise when I become anxious and if I need some space
-
To be fun, willing to have a laugh and get involved in some of my activities.
We are hoping new staff might have new ideas on things we might like to do.
As you've probably worked out they are full of life and fun to be with, could you support them to lead lives that make sense to them?
You must be a driver with a manual driving license.
*If you’re not familiar with it, for a sleep-in shift, you sleep at the person’s home overnight in the spare room, ready to wake up and provide support if someone is restless. In the Warrington area, we pay £60 per sleep-in.
