Job Title: Mental Health Healthcare Assistant

Trust Location:Greater Manchester

Pay Rates: £10.42 Days £14.53 Nights & Sat £19.58 Sun & Bank Holidays

Shift Patterns: Long days, Nights, Twilight and Split shifts

Metal Health Care assistants helping patients through difficult chapters of their life, providing trust and being trusted, your integral in helping patients on their journey home, giving patients hope or helping them to prosper and flourish.

You will develop exceptionally positive and robust relationships with patients and their families, building trust and confidence.

This Manchester Mental HealthTrust provides care and treatment for people with mild to moderate conditions such as depression, anxiety and dementia, through to high-level mental health illnesses such as schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder.

As a Mental Health Care Assistant with NHS professionals, you’ll be working across one of our mental health units located across six boroughs: Bury, Glossop, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside. With over 88 different locations you’ll be able to choose the most appropriate for your skill set.

We currently have work available on:

· Working Age Adult Wards

· Older Mental Health Wards

· Forensics/ Secure Units

· A&E Liaison Units

· CAMH wards and Secure Units

· Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit

· Home based / Community Treatment Teams

What you’ll be responsible for:

· To act as a positive role model to the service users and staff.

· To demonstrate appropriate de-escalation skills in managing aggression exhibited by service users, subject to achieving agreed training and competency in Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression techniques.

· Escort patients as appropriate to other areas of the hospital or outside the hospital as delegated by trained member of staff.

· Completion of regular physical health observations, including the recording of these. Also completing the physical health paperwork within the admission process, including smoking / alcohol recording forms.

· Supporting qualified staff in the participation of the care planning process.

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

You’ll need to have the following qualification/experience:

· Minimum of 6 months experience within the last 2 years as either Mental Health Care Support Work in the UK (Private or NHS) hospital / UK Prison or specialist Mental Health Care Home.

· NVQ Level 2 or above or Btec Diploma in Health and Social Care or Healthcare Support services.

Or

Completed Care Certificate

· Valid in date restraint training ie PMVA
