We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Research Fellow with experience in quantitative research in healthcare settings (or ideally with some qualitative research experience). The Research Fellow will support delivery of an exciting programme of research as part of the Epidemiology Group’s contribution to the MRC and Versus Arthritis Centre for Musculoskeletal Health and Work (https://www.mrc.soton.ac.uk/cmhw). This will include, but is not limited to, working on specific studies such as QUICK QUantifying the Impact of Chronic pain on engagement in paid work (https://www.abdn.ac.uk/iahs/research/epidemiology/quick-2047.php) and Making it Work™ (https://www.abdn.ac.uk/iahs/research/epidemiology/making-it-work-2147.php). Additionally, the Research Fellow will support the development of new studies, as well as pathways to impact across all CMHW projects. Further information about the Epidemiology Group and specific projects is available from www.abdn.ac.uk/epidemiology.
The postholder will be responsible for delivering aspects of the studies described above, and for developing new studies. They will be expected to work interchangeably across different studies within the CMHW portfolio, conducting high quality research which embeds PPIE at every stage of the research cycle. The Research Fellow will collaborate as an enthusiastic and effective team member, contributing to the development of the CMHW and the wider contexts of the Epidemiology Group and Aberdeen Centre for Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Health. They will provide sustained and active support for departmental research and engage in some general academic, administration and research support duties.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated and will have experience in quantitative research in healthcare settings (or ideally with some experience in qualitative research).
Informal enquires about the position may be made to Professor Gary J Macfarlane at: [email protected].
Please do not send applications to Professor Macfarlane.
Our preference is for the successful candidate to be office-based in Aberdeen but there would be the possibility for some working from home.
