As a Service Engineer you will be part of a team who will be servicing, maintaining and optimising award winning Canon continuous feed and cut sheet ink jet devices for our customers. You’ll be the face of Canon so in the perfect position to build excellent relationships with key stakeholders and really make a difference to the operational performance of our devices, for which you’ll be rewarded through a variable pay package.

This role will also require out of hours working to support a 24/7 service contracted customer base.

You will have the responsibility of providing a service in first line trouble shooting (root cause of problems) on commercial print devices, working to strict service level agreements.
Your challenge is to achieve a high first time fix rate and minimum recalls with the most cost effective use of labour time and parts and to provide customer product instruction and training.
Canon encourages you in signalling commercial opportunities to the sales and Marketing department. This is preferably done using the OSIS (On site, In sight) functionality provided via Laptop.
Being part of the team we encourage you to make frequent contributions to the ongoing development of the team and overall service performance, including assisting / coaching / mentoring Service Engineers (dependent on grade). Your Manager will provide you with the support and guidance so you can excel in your role.
Working closely with the customers and to be considerate of their business needs, ensure the maximum productivity is achieved, clearly highlighting when work is chargeable and seeking the correct authorisation to undertake the work. Updating relevant company databases as required
Using your excellent communication skills to communicate effectively to Canon’s customers and across internal Canon departments as required

You are already a competent Service Engineer in a production/commercial environment who has a passion for fault finding and resolution within electro mechanical environments and relevant IT experience.

Ideally from a field service industry, you have a general good understand of when to escalate issues to ensure that service levels are maintained.

Your excellent customer service and communication skills are important for you to excel in this role. Being a team player you support colleagues and contribute to the team’s objectives, however equally you are able to work alone without daily guidance.

NVQ or equivalent in an electrical and/or mechanical discipline.

Must be able to work in a 24x7 environment by participating in on-call rotations
Full driving license allowing you to drive in the UK. -
