Our Catchment and Biodiversity team, within the Water Resources and Environment department are leading on the development and delivery of nature-based solutions in our water-supply catchments to protect water quality, enhance water resources and biodiversity with the aim of creating more sustainable and resilient catchments for water and the wider environment.
We work closely with the agricultural community to mitigate the impacts of pollution on water with a focus on supporting measures to improve soil health and husbandry, alongside wider regenerative agriculture principles.
For this role, the agricultural advisor will act as a key member of the catchment and biodiversity team to support our current programme of catchment management schemes for 2020 – 2025 in addition to supporting development our ambitious programme of nature-based solutions under the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) for 2025 and beyond.
You will work closely with our team of catchment advisors to investigate the sources and pathways for pollution and engage directly with land managers, farmers and agronomists to identify solutions, provide technical support and appropriate incentives, as well as monitoring and assessment of wider environmental benefits.
Responsibilities

Lead as project manager for several of our agriculture-focused catchment management schemes including project delivery, budget control and internal reporting
- Manage and lead on our farm engagement programme including 1:1 visits, organising and hosting workshops, training and events
- Support the development, facilitation, and engagement of farm cluster groups in our region and identify opportunities for further clusters
- Provide supervisory and technical support to PhD studies funded by Affinity Water focused around agriculture
- Represent Affinity Water externally which will include giving public presentations, communicating with our regulators and other key stakeholders
- Support development of our team of Catchment Advisors
Required Experience
-
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline 5+ years of experience in the agriculture and/or water sector desirable.
- Experienced at influencing and managing relationships (and managing stakeholder engagement).
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- BASIS/FACTS qualifications - desirable
