Job Description

Caldera is making zero-carbon heat the norm. Their trailblazing technology stores clean energy, and makes it easy to use renewable electricity to provide heat on demand. Since almost half of the world’s energy is used for heat, Caldera is paving the way for a faster & smoother energy transition.

Their core technology is a unique thermal energy storage system that can be charged from the grid when it is windy or sunny. The stored energy can then be used to deliver heat for industrial processes when required.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to join a mission-driven team at a time when key product design decisions are still being made.

They're looking for a skilled engineer who has experience with electronics, mechatronics and software development. As an Industrial IoT Software Engineer database management is a must, as you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining secure databases, and ensuring seamless software compatibility to the end user. This includes maintaining data integrity, generation of data from control systems to support digital transformation and data analytics. You'll need to be comfortable sending data from IoT devices using MQTT and working with APIs. Problem-solving and communication skills are essential, as is a passion for sustainability or making an impact in the energy storage sector is also important.

  • Ability to understand technical requirements, drawings and product specifications.

And any of the following would be a bonus:

  • Language skills or experience working internationally.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks.
  • Experience with PLC programming, for example with Codesys.

Location

You will need to be based at either their existing office and factory in Fareham, or at a new office planned in London (likely near Waterloo). If you are based in London you would also need to visit Fareham at least once a week.

Offer

You will join a small and friendly team, and there will be plenty of opportunities to grow your expertise as the company grows. They have an informal culture, with all views welcome. They are mission-driven, with climate change as a key motivator for starting the company.

They want to be an inclusive and family friendly employer. This role can be 24 to 40 hours per week. They are open to flexible working patterns, for example reduced hours during school holidays.

They encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds. There team work as STEM ambassadors to support a broader range of people coming in to their professions, and you will have an opportunity to join them.
