Their core technology is a unique thermal energy storage system that can be charged from the grid when it is windy or sunny. The stored energy can then be used to deliver heat for industrial processes when required.
They are looking for an Industrial IoT Software Engineer who has experience with electronics, mechatronics and software development to join their team and help them build a first-of-a-kind demonstrator at their HQ prior to a global roll out. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to join a mission-driven team at a time when key product design decisions are still being made.
They're looking for a skilled engineer who has experience with electronics, mechatronics and software development. As an Industrial IoT Software Engineer database management is a must, as you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining secure databases, and ensuring seamless software compatibility to the end user. This includes maintaining data integrity, generation of data from control systems to support digital transformation and data analytics. You'll need to be comfortable sending data from IoT devices using MQTT and working with APIs. Problem-solving and communication skills are essential, as is a passion for sustainability or making an impact in the energy storage sector is also important.
Requirements
You will need:
- Professional work experience in this field
- Knowledge of Python and/or C++.
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering field.
- Ability to understand technical requirements, drawings and product specifications.
And any of the following would be a bonus:

Industrial automation and control systems.
- Integration of multiprotocol device systems (e.g. PROFINET, Modbus, RS-485).
- Integration of industrial equipment on customer sites.
- Language skills or experience working internationally.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks.
- Experience with PLC programming, for example with Codesys.
- Manufacturing process development.
- Workshop skills.
- Experience of automation and control systems within a process manufacturing environment e.g. PLC, SCADA, Vision Systems, Drives, Robotics, Data Historian, Industrial Networks.
- Commercial acumen and cost sensitivity.
Location
You will need to be based at either their existing office and factory in Fareham, or at a new office planned in London (likely near Waterloo). If you are based in London you would also need to visit Fareham at least once a week.
