Job Description

Clayton ward is a health care of the older person's ward that specialises in caring for patients over the age of 65 with frailty & complex care needs. The role of the health care support worker is working alongside and under the supervision of a Registered General Nurse you will undertake a range of duties supporting the Registered Nurse with providing high standards of individualised and holistic care to the older person.

With a basic general secondary education, you will be able to demonstrate key skills in literacy and numeracy and be able to manage time effectively. You will also have good communication skills; be able to use your own initiative; and work effectively on an individual basis as well as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in a demanding and busy environment. You will have a flexible approach to work and must be able to undertake shift work.

Previous experience is not essential as support will be provided to develop knowledge, skills and understanding to ensure the delivery of a first class service to our patients. You will be committed to on going personal and career development; be willing to undertake The Care Certificate if not already attained; and any other further education, training and development relevant to the post.

1. Working with the support and supervision of the registered practitioner, the Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) will undertake clinical and therapeutic care activities in the clinical setting as delegated by the Registered Nurse/ Midwife within set protocols and within scope of the HCSW remit.

2. As delegated by a Registered Nurse, undertake a range of clinically specific skills appropriate to the delivery of patient care in a specific clinical area with the appropriate level of training and competence.

3. Participate in and contribute to effective teamwork

4. Contribute to, and actively participate in, the maintenance of an effective, quality, learning environment

5. Assist in maintaining a healthy, safe, secure, and effective environment for patients and staff.

6. Exhibit professional behaviour and attitude at all times
