Job Description An opportunity has arisen within the Paediatric Oncology Research Team based at The Great North Children’s Hospital for two full time Data Managers. We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic and well organised individuals who can work under pressure and with deadlines. The post holders will support existing research staff within the team in various aspects of data management, specifically to manage our portfolio of early and late phase trials. An essential component of the role is the accurate collection and co-ordination of the data created by the clinical staff then transcribed/uploaded to the relevant databases. Candidates should be educated up to A level or equivalent standard and have proven experience of working and/or education in a medical environment and have an understanding of medical terminology. Computer literacy with some evidence of formal education is also essential. The candidate must also be willing to undertake further training and education. Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as liaison with many other disciplines within and outside the team is an integral part of this role. Support the Clinical Trial Coordinators within the paediatric oncology research team. Liaise with external trial monitors and help to facilitate monitoring visits. Attend and participate in trial related meetings. Work as part of our dynamic clinical trials team, including clinical and admin staff. To be responsible for the collection of data relating to patients treated within the department, in particular, where the patient is entered onto a clinical trial. Act as a point of contact for regional, national and international data queries. Ensure that Trust policy regarding Data Protection is adhered to. Assist the Trial Coordinator in all aspects of maintaining records of patients on trials and the regulatory issues that govern the management of clinical trials.
