Job Description
To provide professional advanced clinical support to medical and nursing staff within the Trauma & Orthopaedic department and to provide a Surgical care Practitioner service to patients within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Directorate which includes cover on the medical on call rota.
You will participate in Trust Service Development by contributing to evidence based development of clinical practice, protocols & guidelines and participate in audit and research projects.
- Work as a peri-operative practitioner within the ward, A&E, theatre and outpatient clinic settings.
- Participates in operative procedures and aspects of pre and post-operative care of Trauma & Orthopaedic patients, under the direction of the consultant Orthopaedic surgeons. Works closely with the medical and nursing staff to develop this role to its full potential.
- Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team participating in the planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care
- Provides specialist education and training to a wide discipline of staff
- Undertakes research activities and clinical audits in Trauma & Orthopaedics
- Undertakes appropriate training and assessment in the competencies required to undertake the role with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge
You will be part of a team 6 experienced Surgical Care Practioners who all have specialised experience in trauma and Orthopaedics. You will have mentor support within the SCP team as well as clinical supervision from an orthopaedic consultant to support your training and qualification.
