Coastal Workboats is an innovative, well-renowned commercial boat-builder based in Devon. Working in aluminium and steel, we create functional, expertly designed working crafts that fulfil a wide variety of needs from landing vessels for the aquaculture industry to research crafts, tenders and even catamaran ferries.
We operate in collaboration with some of the largest names in commercial boatbuilding, delivering projects for customers across the globe and building our reputation for high-quality and world-class design.
Recently, the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition awarded us £6 million of funding to support our £9 million project that will see us deliver the first demonstration a fully electric workboat and charging station in the UK. This pioneering project will enable us to prove our concept and showcase the innovative solutions it represents for potential commercial boat applications, the wider industry and an emission-free future.
We are now looking for a Welder / Fabrictor to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role
As a Welder / Fabrictor, you will play a key role in the construction of new marine vessels.
Specifically, you will use TIG and MIG welding techniques as part of the boat building process. Welding aluminium and steel, you will work safely and accurately as part of a team to produce high quality marine craft.
About You
To be considered as a Welder / Fabrictor, you will need:
- Metal workshop experience, e.g., flame cutting and plasma
- Experience of positional welding
