- You will be working as an Associate/Partner Solicitor/Legal Executive within our specialist Family Finance Team (depending on your qualifications, experience and PQE).
- You will be advising mid-high net worth clients on a range of financial issues following their separation and marital breakdown and representing them as they navigate their way through the financial remedy process.
- This will include advising on the divorce process, matrimonial and non-matrimonial property, maintenance claims and pension division. Cases will often involve significant business assets, complex company structures, international and more specialist and complex areas of matrimonial finance work.
- You will also be advising on wealth protection in the form of pre and post-nuptial agreements and the effect of those agreements in the context of a divorce.
- You will be expected to supervise multiple legal advisors (qualified legal executives and solicitors as well as trainees and paralegals) and to assist the head of the Family team in managing the team’s workload, financial performance and personal development of the team members.
- We look to all members of our team to build strong and effective relationships with clients, getting to know them, driving new business and growing the profile of the team.
- You will be expected to promote your own effective business development and support the delivery of the team’s business and marketing plans, alongside other members of the team. There will be opportunities to be actively engaged with the firm’s specialist sectors and to work closely with other teams across the firm.
- This is a full time role, but do talk to us about flexible working, including part time and job share opportunities.
- You will be a Solicitor or Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Legal Executives with a good working knowledge of family law and divorce proceedings and with more than 8 years’ PQE.
- You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed to developing yourself and your career.
- You will have the ability to enhance our clients’ experience through the delivery of exceptional client service.
- You will be able to demonstrate that you have strong analytical and communication skills.
- You will have experience of supervising and delegating to junior legal advisers.
- We offer a competitive salary and an impressive array of benefits and rewards. Not least of these is through the Firm’s employee-ownership status, where every employee is listened to, helps to realise our vision and receives an equal share in our annual profit-share.
- Our hybrid working model and approach to flexible working enables our people to share their working time between home and the office to support a healthy work / life balance.
- View a full list of our benefits– including 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays and your birthday), private medical insurance, group life assurance, access to a comprehensive range of wellbeing support, and three additional days’ paid leave to support good causes.
Working here is something else entirely. It’s a place where we can step up to tough challenges with people so good they inspire us to be better. We proudly work in a beautiful part of the country, go beyond expectations and achieve things that matter.
We’re the UK’s first major employee-owned law firm. But more than this, we’re people-centred, people-powered. We do what it takes to help each other overcome every challenge. Whatever’s happening in the world, empowering our people is what matters.
Our communities and colleagues give us a lot to be thankful for. So we try to make them feel as valued as our clients. Whether we’re digging deep and giving our time and money, picking up rubbish from our streets and beaches, at Stephens Scown, if it’s right, it matters.
We might have the expertise of a top city firm, but outside our offices there’s not a skyscraper in sight. Whether we’re getting to know our clients on our local beach or having fun in the park with colleagues, we’re all about living a life enriched by work. Making the fun matter.
