About the Practice/Department/Team
Lakeside Healthcare at Yaxley is a well-established surgery with a list size of over 18,000 which is growing. We achieve full QOF points, and have been awarded the RCGP Quality Practice Award twice. The practice adopted a Doctor First access system in 2012 for all GP and Nurse Practitioner/Emergency Care Practitioner appointments.
Job Introduction
Lead by a GP Partner, you would be one of an overall Nursing Team of 15, including 3 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Emergency Care Practitioners, 6 Practice Nurses and 5 HCAs, all working together to provide same day, first class primary care.
What you will do
- Venepuncture
- ECG recording
- Processing and management of laboratory samples
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to nurses or GPs as appropriate
- Chronic disease clinic including diabetes (including foot checks), asthma and COPD, health promotion
- Carrying out INR monitoring using INR star (training provided)
- To apply basic dressings under the supervision of the Practice Nurses
Essential Criteria
Qualified to NVQ level 2
Experience within a primary care setting
Able to provide quality care to patients in a 1:1 setting
Good interpersonal &communication skills
Good organisational skills
Effective time management skills
Ability to work independently following verbal or written instructions
Adaptable to change
Computer literate
Can work well within a team
