Felsted is a leading day and boarding independent school based in a stunning village campus in North Essex. Founded in 1564 by Richard Lord Riche, who had been a Lord Chancellor under King Edward VI, Felsted today provides an exceptional holistic education to approximately 1100 boys and girls aged four to eighteen. We celebrated our 450th anniversary in 2014, one of only a handful of schools in the country that have claimed this historic milestone. The Felsted IT Services team is a critical and integral part of the Felsted community and the role of the IT Technician is to maintain the School’s core IT systems and assist with the development and installation of new IT systems.
The main duties of the role are to handle helpdesk telephone calls, email support requests and the resolution of IT problems to the satisfaction of the user, as well as provide on-going monitoring and maintenance of IT hardware and providing training to users in use of school IT facilities and software.
An excellent understanding of Microsoft Windows 10 and configuration of PC hardware is essential. It is vital that the successful candidate has a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude towards customer service and is able to work both independently and within a team. An understanding of Google Workspace, Chromebooks, previous experience working on a support desk with hardware and software troubleshooting skills would be desirable.
This role is a permanent position working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, all-year round. The post holder is required to work one Saturday per month during term-time and be on-call as per the department’s rota.
