Owned by the RNLI, we support them to save lives at sea by manufacturing high quality equipment and sustaining its life in service.
The company has a 7 acre site based in Knighton on the Powys / Shropshire / Herefordshire border. Easily commutable from Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Leominster or Hereford. LD1, LD7, LD8, HR5, HR6, SY7, SY8, SY9
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join our special vehicles engineering team based in Knighton, Powys. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills, including knowledge about materials and manufacturing processes. This role will be focussed on mechanical, hydraulic and electrification projects in collaboration with our principal customer: the RNLI.
Responsibilities:
- Create and modify designs of products, processes, or systems.
- Work on the Designs of our Marinised Tractors and Carriages
- Implement and test design decisions made in support of the engineering design process.
- Ensure that designs are produced within cost and time constraints, by means such as working with a team to schedule work, estimate resource requirements and track progress, estimating costs and scheduling time to complete designs.
To be considered for this position you will ideally need the following…
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as electrical or mechanical engineering. HNC/HND level qualification with relevant experience will also be considered.
- A firm understanding of general engineering principals. Knowledge and experience of electro-hydraulic components, control systems and electric motors desirable.
- Good communication skills are a must.
- You will work as part of a multi-disciplined team supporting the Senior Engineers for the design and deployment of engineered solutions.
- You’ll support the preparation, maintenance and release of documentation in support of the New Product Introduction process.
Experience Required
· Working in a low volume, high complexity engineering environment.
· An Understanding of engineering drawings & processes.
· Manufacturing and materials knowledge.
· CAD proficient. SolidWorks preferred.
· Adobe Illustrator.
