We have an exciting opportunity to join us as an Operations Manager within our Strategic Enablers (SE) team at RAF Spadeadam and working within the Integrated Battlespace Operating Centre.
You will assist with the day-to-day management of a portion of the Electronic Warfare Equipment Portfolio. The whole portfolio comprises 13 specialist systems that are used to train aircrews in EW tactics and countermeasures. They include Radio Frequency Ground Based Air Defence Radars, Ultra-Violet and Infra-Red man portable threat systems linked by a command control and communications system.
You will support delivery of the service in accordance with customer agreements by using demand, supply and project management skills and techniques. Engaging and building relationships with stakeholders, you will drive and deliver outcomes in a way that identifies risks and recommends clear, viable mitigating actions. Your approach will be to listen, understand and to respect the value of different views, ideas, and ways of working to make ongoing improvements to delivery while bringing your stakeholders on the journey with you.
You will need to be highly proactive with a continuous improvement mindset. You will support a culture of imaginative thinking, learning from experience and to challenge the status quo to continually drive for improved quality.

This role is based in our offices at RAF Spadeadam and in-office attendance will be expected as required.
There will be requirements to travel to RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire, Abbey Wood (Bristol) and contractor premises. This would include overnight stays and possible overseas travel. Travel and subsistence costs will be covered.
About the role
In this role, you will have responsibility for:
- Day-to-day management of the delivery of in-service support within your designated area of responsibility, according to the customer requirements, delivery plan, support solution, key Performance Indicators (KPIs), governance and reporting requirements.
- Supporting contract management activities including liaising with suppliers, monitoring, and controlling performance against contractual obligations and agreed KPIs and Government Furnished Assets (GFA) management. Assists the drafting of contract requirements and support the tender and evaluation process.
- Contributing to the development of Service Delivery Plans, delivery approaches, procurement strategies, and resource and cost forecasting.
- Contributing to resource management, inventory forecast, monitoring of actual spend and updating forecasts accordingly to ensure the integrated support meets customer requirements within budget, seeking guidance when required.
- Contributing to the management of risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies; effectively communicating changes with stakeholders.
- Identifying issues and taking appropriate action in cases where the deliverables or platform are not being delivered to the required quality, cost, or timescales.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Significant experience of working within at least one of the following fields: Operational Delivery Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering.
- Experience of developing and implementing changes that improve the delivery of an output that is valuable to the customer and the company that you work for.
- Evidence of managing the development of contract requirements and budgets, including the approval of funding to provide the outcomes required.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver to deadlines, in a fast paced, delivery-focused environment.
- Evidence of communicating, influencing, and working in collaboration with various stakeholders, internal and external at all levels.
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:
- Experience of RAF Communication & Information Systems engineering.
- Full UK driving licence.
