Job Description

Alliance are the leading independent provider of mental health and psychological wellbeing services across Teesside and the North-East. Commissioned through the Tees Valley CCGs and overseen through the Mental Health & Learning Disability Partnership we lead both on the delivery of IMPACT on Teesside and the Hartlepool and Stockton National Trailblazer for Mental Health Support Teams. We do this through our commitments to working collaboratively with partners, including third sector organisations, local authorities, educational settings and other health and social care providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for those who need our support. We also provide more specialist support in particular areas that have been funded from elsewhere. We have a successful and developing employee support and wellbeing service, that provides unique support to the public and private sector across the North-East.

We are recruiting for Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners. This role will be full time hours (37.5h) and involve studying at Northumbria University.

You will be required to start in the role as soon as possible, prior to the training course commencing in October 2023, to allow you time to learn more about the CYPF service and complete an induction period.

Salary whilst training is £22,500. Salary on completion of course as a qualified EMHP is £27,000 - £32,000 per annum.

The successful candidates will join a team of Educational Mental Health Practitioners, Children's Wellbeing Practitioners, Therapeutic Parenting Practitioners and Clinical Supervisors.

Your role within the Mental Health Support Teams will be to:

Deliver evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing needs.

Support senior mental health leads in educational settings to develop and introduce their whole-school or whole college approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Providing timely advice to staff and liaising with external specialist services so that children and young people can get the right support and remain in education.

The post holder will work across a range of educational and community-based settings, so access to a car is therefore essential as some locations are not easily accessed by bus routes.

The post holder will train to become qualified in the delivery of evidence-based interventions for children and young people in an educational setting who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems. Additionally, the post holder will work within a Mental Health Support Team and support education settings develop a Whole School Approach to Mental Health & Wellbeing. Helping children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services. The post holder will also be responsible for supporting and facilitating staff in education settings to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.

To create and maintain effective working relationships with Headteachers, Deputy Heads, SENCOs, Pastoral Team, and wider teaching staff by providing advice and consultative support on emotional and mental health issues, and in relation to appropriate referral pathways for children, young people, and families with mental health needs.

To liaise effectively with other local providers, including statutory, voluntary sector organisations and on behalf of the child, young person, or family.

To build effective working relationships with other local childrens mental health providers including CaMHS and support the development of pathways of support.

Attend multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings relating to referrals for children, young people, and families in treatment.
